Daily Devotional for Monday November 25, 2024
A spiritual challenge for this holiday Thanksgiving/Christmas season! and, A time of great feasts!
DAILY DEVOTIONAL MONDAY NOVEMBER 25, 2024
(Proverbs 25:27)
***PERSONAL MESSAGE FOR YOU FROM BILL KELLER: May God bless you each day as you faithfully take your stand for Him!
***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Lord, USE ME in these perilous, last days, as a messenger of Your hope in Jesus. Father, make me aware of the people You have put in my life each day, many who will die and burn in hell for all eternity for rejecting Christ, and use me as a vessel of Your love and hope. I thank You for sending Jesus to die for my sins that I might know the free gift of everlasting life, and I ask today that You help me to lead others to that wonderful eternal relationship with Christ. For it is in HIS name I pray...AMEN!
***THE DAILY LIVEPRAYER TV NUGGET: “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:8-12
As we enter into this Christmas season of 2024, I have a challenge for you that has ZERO to do with money...IT IS SPIRITUAL! Most families have their Christmas traditions which they look forward to continuing as Thanksgiving ends and the Christmas season begins in earnest. Those traditions are so important since they connect families to their past and are a time of remembrance of those loved ones who have gone home to be with the Lord. We know the Bible teaches that tomorrow is promised to none of us. However, most reading these words today will be celebrating Christmas day in just under 6 weeks. Having said that, I want to challenge you today to make this Christmas the most special Christmas of your lifetime. That can't and won't happen in the way the lost world around us celebrates this time of year with parties and presents. It has to happen by first focusing on what this time of year is really all about, the birth of Jesus. For Christians, especially those who have walked with the Lord for decades, spent a good part of their lives in the church, Christmas is always special, but really how special? We love the great carols, the Christmas passages in the Bible, but is our Christmas routine the same year after year after year? My challenge to you this Christmas season is to change it up! I am not saying abandon your normal family traditions, or the wonderful services at your church, ADD TO THEM! I understand everyone is busy, schedules get even tighter this time of year, and that is all the more reason to do something PURPOSEFUL this Christmas. There is a world outside of your home that is lost, becoming more lost with each passing day. It is a world that is hurting, hurting more with each passing day. It is a world that is looking for hope, when all around is nothing but hopelessness. As followers of Jesus Christ we have the answer for the lost, for the hurting, and for the hopeless...JESUS! At this time of year when we celebrate God's gift to the world, His Son Jesus, I am challenging you to share that gift with others this Christmas season. God blesses us with inspiration from on high when we seek it. Get alone with God and start asking Him what YOU can do this Christmas to share Jesus with others. There are an unlimited ways you can do that. God knows your heart, the gifts He has bestowed upon you, and will guide you. Don't be afraid to think outside of the box since there are no bad ideas with God. Pray, think, talk to the Lord, pray some more, and ask Him for Divine inspiration how you can share Jesus this Christmas with others and make it your most special, blessed Christmas of your life!!! GOD IS SPEAKING TO YOU TODAY, DON'T IGNORE HIS VOICE!!! I WILL BE PRAYING FOR YOU!!!

***NOVEMBER FINANCIAL UPDATE: AMEN! Thanks to a special year end gift from friend of Liveprayer, we have cleared up the balance of our September shortfall! AMEN! Over the final week of November, I am praying that we can clear up the $55,000 we required for our October ministry operations.
That would just leave the $55,000 for November’s budget and the $55,000 for December, or $110,000 during December to end this year with all of our ministry operations current. OUR GOD IS ABLE!!!
*******As we are now 36 days left until the end of 2024, please be praying about a special year-end gift to Livprayer! For many, a gift to God's work here will help on your taxes since you are either going to give the money to the government to waste, or to Liveprayer to get HIS Truth out to the masses and save souls!!!
The Bible teaches us to “give according to our ability to give.” For some that may be $10 or $20. For others it may be $50 or $100. Still others it may be $200, $500, $1,000, $10,000 or more. GOD WILL BLESS YOUR GIFT NO MATTER WHAT THE AMOUNT!!!
ALSO, DON'T FORGET A GIFT OF $1,800 COVERS ONE DAY OF MINISTRY AT LIVEPRAYER!!! I received this email recently, “Pastor Bill, My wife and I have just sold our last rental and God told us to tithe $1,800.00 to pay for a day of your ministry. Not looking for accolades, just that you know when you receive the check. Rest assured that we will still be making our regular weekly tithes."

With Thanksgiving this week and Christmas soon after, it is a time of year for great feasts. In my years of ministry, I could always get the "Amen corner" into my sermons when I preached against homosexuality, preached against the more visible sins. On those occasions when I preached on the sin of gluttony, it usually got very quiet. I realize this will be a difficult read for many today, but that is one reason I am here to challenge you.
Let me say right up front, gluttony IS a sin. God said so. Anything that you do in excess, to your detriment, to the detriment of your ability to serve God, that is ahead of your daily relationship with God, is a sin.
Let me also add something very important. There are just as many skinny gluttons as overweight gluttons! Let me say that once more. There are just as many skinny gluttons as overweight gluttons. Being overweight can be caused by many things, and just because a person is heavy, does NOT mean they are a glutton. Again, ANYTHING that you put ahead of your relationship with the Lord is a sin. If you are a thin person, but put food ahead of your relationship with Christ, you are a glutton!
I know that during the Holiday season many sit down to some incredible feasts, even though inflation may cut that down a bit this year. I am not saying you shouldn't, and I am not saying you should not enjoy food. I believe God gave us food to nourish our body, our taste buds to enjoy food, and eating is a wonderful part of our life. Gluttony however refers to eating in excess. I know many fine men and women of God that live tremendous lives and do great works for the Lord. However, this is an area that they struggle with and that is why I bring it to you today.
Like all sin, gluttony can be overcome, not in our own strength, but in His. Like all sins, if you fight this battle, you need a battle plan. God can give you that plan, the strength to carry it out, and the perseverance to get victory. Like in other sins though, the question becomes, do you really want victory? Do you really want to conquer this foe? Do you even recognize that this is a problem in your life?
At this point, you have either accepted through the prompting of the Holy Spirit that this is an issue in your life, or you have realized that this is not something that you battle with. If you are in the latter category, then I would encourage you to pray for those who do fight this battle each day.
I have no doubt that you know people in your family, school, workplace, church, that are going through this struggle. Pray for them today. Pray that the Lord would open their eyes and show them this is a problem they need to deal with. Pray that they will have the courage, like anyone who is dealing with a specific sin, to admit it and allow the Lord to help them get victory over gluttony.
I love you, care about you, and realize the sensitive nature of this sin. But there is no use in hiding it or candy-coating the problem. It is time to recognize it as a problem, and get busy fighting it and letting God help you to become victorious over this battle in your life.
If you are struggling with gluttony today, I will be praying specifically for you. I realize what a difficult struggle this can be. If you will take that first step, admit this is a problem, God will help you be victorious in this battle with gluttony!
In His love and service,
Your friend and co-laborer in His work,
Bill Keller
